Thank you. I’m really glad this resonated with you.
Airlines have always been quick to talk about diversity in broad terms, but body size has often been the quiet exception — the “unspoken rule”. The more people call it out, the harder it becomes to ignore.
If this article does anything, hopefully it nudges the discussion a bit further.

The pressure on airlines to prioritize inclusion and diversity at all body sizes is long overdue. It’s refreshing to see this topic being addressed, and I hope it sparks more conversations about body positivity in the aviation industry. Thank you for shedding light on this issue!

Comment on Sayonara, Nara Dreamland: Visiting the Demolished Theme Park by Ivan Kralj https://www.pipeaway.com/nara-dreamland-amusement-park-end/#comment-280685 Fri, 23 Jan 2026 15:52:02 +0000 https://www.pipeaway.com/?p=1245#comment-280685 In reply to Christina Daggett.

Thanks for your input, Christina!
Indeed, new theme parks can hardly compete with the nostalgia of the yesteryears.
But times change, and I guess those good old times and places are forced to continue living in our memories.
Demolished Nara Dreamland will certainly do so.

Comment on Kathu Shrine, Phuket: The Birthplace of Thailand’s Nine Emperor Gods Festival by Ivan Kralj https://www.pipeaway.com/kathu-shrine-phuket-nine-emperor-gods-festival/#comment-236324 Thu, 27 Nov 2025 13:10:02 +0000 https://www.pipeaway.com/?p=15031#comment-236324 In reply to Michael Taylor.

Thanks so much, Michael! 🙏

Phuket Vegetarian Festival really transforms the whole island, and honestly, there’s no wrong way to experience it.

I can understand that next to all the blessings and incense, you might have missed the dramatic devotional piercings.

However, I’m sure your post will still be incredibly valuable. If you need to borrow some visual materials, let me know. I have plenty 😉

Really appreciate your kind words, and can’t wait to read your write-up!

My friends had organized a tour of the island for us, and it included a stop at one of the shrines, but we didn’t see any of the body piercings or anything of the kind. I only learned about this later when I was researching a blog post on the festival. So the pictures in my post are going to be pretty tame compared to the pictures in your post! Absolutely extraordinary!

Thanks for your comment, Alan!
The Kathu Shrine procession really does feel like a spiritual half-marathon – physically demanding, emotionally charged, and deeply communal.
I couldn’t agree more – timing a trip with a local festival always gives you a glimpse into the soul of a place.
